We are working on a publication titled “Desert: Space – Architecture for Emptiness,” and we are looking for projects and texts that are suitable to the theme. Our research focuses on the relation between architecture and the natural landscape of the Arabian Peninsula.
This is the context were the first settlements took place strongly influencing the definition of regional architecture: from the vernacular to the contemporary. Nowadays, Arabian cities still expand into the desert, and the question of how architecture should respond in terms of spatial, formal, and performative characters to this specific contextual “plenum” is of primary interest.
If you are interested in taking part, please send us High-Res images (max 10 each project) and Text (around 2000 words) or Press Release (around 200 words).
